A sentimental note from Nichole May. 25th, 2006 @ 01:13 pm

When I look back at our first year as RIC Women’s Studies organization, a smile instantaneously comes to my face!  I am so pleased with how the year turned out and the impression we made.  Our wonderful events and guests proved to make RIC WSO successful in promoting awareness about Women’s Studies and important feminist issues around campus and in the community! We are growing as an organization and are excited to be making positive change!  If you participated this year we want to thank you for being a part our organization (and if you didn’t, get involved next year!!).  We will have even more fun and educational opportunities and events planned for next year!

I want to take this time thank our lovely advisor, Leslie Schuster, for her dedication, brilliant ideas and support for us throughout the year.  We love you Leslie… This year wouldn’t have been nearly as great without you!!!!

I also want to personally thank the other officers Sarah Ann is the best VP ever!  ..We spent many nights together planning and coming up with great ideas!! She played a huge role in starting WSO and continues to be a key part of our organization!! Amanda, you are the sweetest! Thanks for stepping up and being a great secretary!!  And of course we love our treasurer Jeannette! She was often the voice of reason and knew how to add the best – haha!  I will never forget her taking care of the dells at the rally… She came through for us in many ways!!!  Although I tell you guys all the time, I love all 3 of you dearly and can’t put into words how special working with you for such important cause was this year :)

We all know that there is lots of room for positive change… I am so glad that we are a part of positively shaping RIC and the community.  We need to continue to use our pretty feminist voices!!

Cheers to an amazing first year… and many more to come!

Peace & Love.

a few updates..read! May. 25th, 2006 @ 01:00 pm

Just a bit about what is going...

Although we have not had much to update you on, please remember that we are still looking for justice in regards to our Free Speech issue!  Look out for updates about that!

There was a high demand for the awesome t-shirts we had at our rally (designed by drewi.com). Unfortunately we did not have the funds to have enough for everyone… We have a short list of people who wanted to order more… We are in the process of ordering more and are trying to get an accurate count, so PLEASE LET US KNOW if you would like to purchase a shirt!  :)

We are attempting to get organized early this summer as a few of us have summer plans to study abroad.  Look out for an email about a June meeting!!  We have many great ideas for next year and have a lot to plan!!  Also – if you have ANY ideas as far as events/speakers etc. for next year… PLEASE EMAIL US YOUR IDEA ANYTIME!!

That is pretty much is for now… I hope everyone is having a great start to their summer!
